Description
As the water tumbles over Gullfoss (Golden Falls) in Iceland, it is carried away in a narrow misty canyon with walls up to 70 metres high.
This spectacularly scenic waterfall was almost lost to hydroelectric development in the early 1900s. It was saved by the tenacity of the owner's daughter who fought the project in court, becoming Iceland's first environmentalist in the process.

Beautiful image, Andrew. Great timing on capturing the water movement and the contrasting mist.

I am sure many have said wonderful words about this fine photography. I am amazed at the mist, the depth and water as it travels down the gorge, so wonderful, Andrew!!!

Wonderful misty view. I've only been here in the winter when it was mostly frozen over and not much mist!
